UserSearch is one company with four domains, and the right UserSearch alternative depends on which one you came from. The free username checker at usersearch.org, the paid UserSearch 2.0 platform sold on usersearch.com and used at usersearch.ai, and the older usersearch.io now share one set of Terms, effective September 21, 2026.

Last verified September 26, 2026. Every UserSearch fact links to its public source, and prices are quoted as published that day.

One operator, four domains

The UserSearch Terms of Service open with this line: "Analytix Labs Ltd, trading as UserSearch · Effective 21 September 2026 · Applies to usersearch.com, usersearch.ai, usersearch.org and usersearch.io". Clause 1.1 names Analytix Labs Ltd as a company registered in England and Wales under company number 14275466, with its registered office in Cardiff. Clause 1.3 adds: "These terms replace every set of terms previously published on those sites."

What UserSearch does well

UserSearch has real history. Its About page dates the idea to 2012 and the official launch to 2014, and names founder and director Lee Lewis, described there as a "Forensic & OSINT expert with over 15 years of experience" who "Pioneered OSINT techniques for law enforcement." The company shows up in the community too: its news page lists sponsorship of the Trace Labs Global OSINT Search Party CTF at DEF CON 34 and sponsor slots at the Global OSINT Conference in London and the Digital Forensics Conference in Belgrade.

The product is broad. The usersearch.com homepage lists "18 Search types" and "approximately 107 visible Modules". The pricing page says credit costs "are shown in the platform before each search," so there is no surprise charge. The FAQ describes Bulk search for "up to five inputs," OneScan for running one input across several sources, and a choice between Forensic Mode, which "keeps your bookmarks and history for a clear chain of custody," and Private mode, which "keeps nothing at all." For a vetted professional team, that is a serious toolkit.

What usersearch.org shows for free

The usersearch.org homepage is still a no-signup username search. It offers six depth tiers, from Lightning at "10 sites" to Complete at "315+ sites", and says the full "3,000+ supported platforms lives on UserSearch.com." Email is no longer searched there: "This page (.org) is for username searches only."

In a run on September 26 with our own brand handle, each result card showed the site name, a "Profile Found" URL, a View Profile link and an "Upgrade to Premium" button. Nothing was blurred.

When we first published this comparison on September 5, we tested the older group-by-group results page, which still loads at usersearch.org/results_normal.php. That page splits its sites into eleven group tabs and runs one group at a time. For the public handle davidbombal, Group 1 returned three hits, each with a user name, an "occupied" explanation and a link. One OSINTsearch sweep of the same handle returned 59 profile cards. Across those 59 cards, 47 carried a display name, 41 a user id, 26 a joined date and 23 a bio.

Inside the app, detail depends on the module. UserSearch's own results documentation says enrichment is "Module- and data-source-dependent": in its example, 537 of 538 OneScan hits were enriched, against 17 of 204 on the free 3000+ sites sweep.

UserSearch pricing and credits, as of September 26, 2026

The pricing page lists three plans:

  • Free Preview, $0: "Limited to Free Modules only".
  • Premium, "$18.97 /month or $159.97 billed yearly", including a "$10.00 Premium Data credit, each month" and "API Access (waiting list)".
  • Teams, "$18.97 /month per license", with a shared credit pool.

Credits are priced in dollars. The credits reference prices some modules as free, such as the 3000+ sites username sweep and Reverse-Email (Fast), and others per search: $0.20 for Public Leaks (IntelX), $0.40 for a US phone background check and $5.00 for a UK vehicle lookup. Two clauses of the Terms matter for budgeting. Clause 7.3 says the monthly allowance "is refreshed each month and does not carry over," while "Credits you buy separately never expire while your account exists." Clause 7.4 says "Credits are spent when a search is run, whether or not the data source returns a result."

The new Terms: renewal, refunds and who can sign up

Three parts of the September 21 Terms are worth reading before you subscribe.

  • Renewal and cancellation. Clause 6.3: "Your subscription renews automatically." Clause 8.1: "You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account," and "You keep your paid features until the end of the period you have already paid for."
  • Refunds. Clause 8.2: "Payments are not refundable, and we do not give refunds or credit for a part-used period or for unused Credits." The stated exceptions are where the law requires one, where UserSearch has seriously broken the terms (clause 8.3), and "exceptional circumstances."
  • Eligibility. Clause 3.1 says accounts and subscriptions are for business, professional, public body or non-profit use "and are not offered to consumers." Clause 3.3 says "Access is subject to our vetting."

The refund position has changed. A June 2026 snapshot of the usersearch.ai pricing page advertised "Cancel anytime · 24-hour refund guarantee." The current Terms state that they replace every earlier set.

A UserSearch alternative built on detail per result: OSINTsearch

OSINTsearch takes a username, an email or a phone number from one search box and returns the matching public profiles as cards. The difference from a link list is what each card carries.

  • Detail shown free. A free account sees the available profile details: name, handle, link, bio, location, counts and user id, plus former usernames and last active when a platform returns them. The homepage preview needs no account at all.
  • Export on every plan. PDF, JSON and CSV export of your available results, including on Free.
  • No per-search charges. Plans are a flat weekly search allowance. No search is priced in dollars, and there are no top-ups to buy.
  • Money-back guarantee. Paid plans come with a full refund on request within 7 calendar days of your initial purchase, under our refund policy.
  • Individuals can sign up. Anyone 18 or older can open an account; organizations can too.
  • Deep search. On Pro and Enterprise, deep search follows the handles it finds, from depth 1 to depth 4.
  • Phone and people. A phone number lookup returns the social accounts linked to a number, and a name or recovered email can seed a US public-records people search.
  • API. Enterprise includes a REST API with whitelisted IPs.

If what you need from a usersearch.org alternative is the record behind a handle rather than a list of URLs, the username search shows that on the first screen.

Other UserSearch alternatives

Looking for other sites like usersearch.org? Each of these does one job well:

  • WhatsMyName: a free, open-source, community-kept list of sites for checking a username yourself.
  • Namechk: a quick check of whether a username is free to register across sites.
  • IDCrawl: a free username and people search that shows bios and follower counts.
  • Social Catfish: a dating-safety and identity-verification service with paid reports.
  • OSINT Industries: a credit-based email, phone and username lookup built for investigators.

Which one fits

Pick UserSearch if you work for an agency or firm that passes its vetting and your cases need record types beyond online accounts, such as court records, vehicles or images, with Cases, Forensic Mode and a team credit pool. Its breadth is its main draw.

Pick OSINTsearch if you want the profile details behind a username, email or phone number on the first screen, an export you can hand on, a predictable weekly allowance, and a refund window on your first purchase. It also suits individuals checking their own footprint.

FAQ

Is usersearch.org free?

Yes. The usersearch.org username search is free with no signup, across tiers from 10 to 315+ sites. The paid platform on usersearch.com has a Free Preview plan "Limited to Free Modules only" and a Premium plan at $18.97 a month.

Are usersearch.org, usersearch.com and usersearch.ai the same company?

Yes. The current Terms apply to usersearch.com, usersearch.ai, usersearch.org and usersearch.io, all operated by Analytix Labs Ltd, trading as UserSearch.

Does UserSearch give refunds?

Under the Terms effective September 21, 2026, "Payments are not refundable," except where the law requires a refund, where UserSearch has seriously broken the terms, or in exceptional circumstances it agrees to. Earlier pages offered a 24-hour refund guarantee; the new Terms replace them. OSINTsearch offers a full refund within 7 calendar days of your initial purchase.

What is a free alternative to usersearch.org?

OSINTsearch runs username, email and phone searches on a free account and shows the available profile details on each result, and its homepage preview needs no account. WhatsMyName is a free, open-source option if you prefer to run the checks yourself. Paid UserSearch accounts are "not offered to consumers"; OSINTsearch is open to anyone 18 or older.

Try it on the same handle

UserSearch earned its place with a long record, a founder from forensics and a very wide set of search types. If you want the profile behind each hit, with an export and a flat allowance, run a free search on OSINTsearch with the handle you just checked on usersearch.org and compare the two. Paid plans add higher limits, breach records and deep search. Search only identifiers you have a lawful reason to research. OSINTsearch is not a consumer reporting agency, and neither service may be used for credit, employment, housing or insurance decisions.
