Yes, UserSearch is legit. A registered UK company operates it, a named founder with a law-enforcement forensics background leads it, and it has run a public username search since 2014. The free checker at usersearch.org is a quick, no-signup way to see where a handle exists. The paid platform at usersearch.com is a credit-based professional workbench with an unusually wide range of search types. Read the eligibility and refund terms before you pay, because both changed this month.
Who runs UserSearch
The UserSearch Terms of Service name the operator as Analytix Labs Ltd, "a company registered in England and Wales under company number 14275466", with its registered office in Cardiff. The same terms apply to four domains: usersearch.com, usersearch.ai, usersearch.org and usersearch.io. usersearch.com sells "UserSearch 2.0", usersearch.ai is the app, and usersearch.org is the original free checker.
The history is a real strength. According to the UserSearch About page, the idea started in 2012 while the founder worked in digital forensics for UK law enforcement, UserSearch.org "officially launched" in 2014, and usersearch.ai followed as a rebuild in January 2024. The page says UserSearch "is led by Lee Lewis, the original developer and current director". Its news page lists support for the Trace Labs CTF at DEF CON 34, sponsorship of OSINT and forensics conferences in London and Belgrade, and free training webinars. Few tools in this category have that track record.
Is UserSearch legit and safe?
On the questions a buyer can check, the answers are reassuring. The operator, company number and address are published. Clause 6.2 of the terms says "Payments are taken by Stripe, our payment processor. We never receive or store your full card number." The terms prohibit harassment, searches about anyone under 18 and any purpose covered by the US Fair Credit Reporting Act, and clause 3.3 says access "is subject to our vetting".
What you cannot check is a large review base. As of September 26, 2026, Trustpilot's page for usersearch.ai lists one review and SmartCustomer's page for usersearch.org lists two. We found no Trustpilot profile for usersearch.org or usersearch.com. That is too few reviews to judge the service in either direction, so this review relies on what UserSearch publishes about itself.
What the free options return
usersearch.org is a no-signup username checker. The usersearch.org homepage describes lookups "across 3,000+ social, dating, gaming, and crypto platforms" and offers six depth tiers, from Lightning (10 sites) to Complete ("315+ sites"). It adds that "The full directory of 3,000+ supported platforms lives on UserSearch.com". Email search has moved off this site: "This page (.org) is for username searches only."
We ran one search there on our own brand handle, osintsearch, using the default Standard tier ("Checking 125 sites"). It returned 15 profile links. Each card showed the site, a "Profile Found" URL and an "Upgrade to Premium" button. No login was needed. Cards carry no display name, bio or follower count, so each hit takes a click to evaluate.
Free Preview is a free account on the main platform. The pricing page describes it as "Limited to Free Modules only" with a chance to "Preview the full Premium dashboard", and clause 5.1 of the terms adds: "We may change or withdraw the free plan at any time." The credits reference lists which modules are free, including Username Search (3000+ sites), Reverse-Email (Fast), Fake Image Check and a HudsonRock threat check.

UserSearch prices credits in dollars and shows each module's cost before you run it, which is a fair, transparent design. Examples from its credits and pricing reference: Phone Background Check (US) at $0.40, Person (Pipl) at $1.00, Company Search at $0.50, Public Leaks (IntelX) at $0.20 and a UK vehicle lookup at up to $5.00. The combined username OneScan is listed at $0.50 to $1.20 depending on the sources selected, and an OSINT Industries username lookup at $0.70.
Two clauses matter for budgeting. Clause 7.3: "The Credit allowance included in your plan is refreshed each month and does not carry over." Clause 7.4: "Credits are spent when a search is run, whether or not the data source returns a result, because the data source charges us for the query either way." Credits you top up separately "never expire while your account exists". By our arithmetic, the included $10 covers about 14 lookups at the $0.70 module price, or eight OneScan username runs at the $1.20 maximum.
Auto-renewal, cancellation and refunds
Subscriptions renew automatically. Clause 6.3 of the current terms: "A monthly subscription renews each month and a yearly subscription renews each year, at the price then in force, until you cancel."
How to cancel UserSearch. Clause 8.1: "You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account, or by emailing [email protected]. Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep your paid features until the end of the period you have already paid for." The account and billing reference shows that account deletion is blocked while a Premium subscription is active, so cancel first.
UserSearch refund policy. Clause 8.2: "Payments are not refundable, and we do not give refunds or credit for a part-used period or for unused Credits. The exceptions are where the law requires a refund, where clause 8.3 applies, and where we agree that there are exceptional circumstances." Clause 8.3 refunds the unused part of a paid period if you cancel because UserSearch seriously broke the terms and did not fix it within 14 days of being told. To request a refund, clause 8.4 says to email [email protected] "from the address on your account", adding: "We usually reply within 2 working days."
This is a recent change. An archived UserSearch help page, last edited in November 2025, promised to honor refund requests "made within 24 hours of joining or renewing", and a June 2026 snapshot of the pricing page advertised a "24-hour refund guarantee". Clause 1.3 of the current terms says they "replace every set of terms previously published on those sites."
Who UserSearch suits
UserSearch is built for professional investigators. Clause 3.1 of its terms says accounts "are provided only for use in the course of a business, trade, profession, public body or non-profit organisation, and are not offered to consumers." Clause 10.1 rules out using the service "to find, follow or contact a person for a personal reason, including a personal dispute, a current or former relationship, or curiosity."
If you fit that profile, the breadth is impressive. The 18 search types run from username, email and phone to court records, vehicles, cryptocurrency and threat intelligence. Cases, bookmarks and Forensic Mode support casework, and the FAQ says Reports "come out as .xlsx files". An API, OneQuery, is opening by waiting list "for authorised, vetted organisations only".
It is not designed for personal use, such as checking a dating match before meeting.
